Women's Institute - July Report

Our annual outing this year was to Tropical Wings near South Woodham Ferrers. Although another hot day the air conditioned coach made for a pleasant journey.

As members strolled around the many enclosures with meerkats, wallabies, parrots and domestic pets we were blessed with a gentle breeze. The highlight was the free-flying butterfly house with many exotic tropical plants. Following a splendid ham salad lunch we watched a demonstration with a bird of prey, a stork with a lady keeper and finally a very large raven reared from 10 weeks who delighted his audience by seeking out tit bits hidden under his keeper's gloves.

The next meeting is on Wednesday August 5 at 7.15pm with Alan Chilvers talking about his schooldays.
