Last night the First Responders received a warm welcome from the Youth Group in the village. Two members spent an hour telling the Group about what the First Responders do and let them have a go on the training kit.
“The kids were really keen to have a go on our training defibrillator,” commented First Responder Jenni Pizzuto. “Even the smallest girl there could work the kit and deliver CPR, it just goes to show how easy it is.”
Anyone interested in joining First responders should contact the Group Organiser, Annie Neish, on 01206 240469 or visit their website here.

Under-10 Match Report (By Victoria)
The weather was much better today and you were able to see the players!
We started with a quick goal by Antonio Sabini, his first shot was saved but he quickly recovered to volley the rebound into the top of the net. We then scored again when Aaron Marley got on the end of a cross and tapped the ball into the net. James Holden took a shot from the middle of his own half and, if it hadn’t been for their alert goal keeper, would have scored. Aaron then scored another goal; he beat the keeper to the ball and slotted the ball into the net whilst sliding along the muddy pitch.
Marks Tey’s goal keeper was on top form in the second half and despite the many shots we had, we scored no goals. Then there was a frenzy at their end with the goal mouth surrounded by a mass of players, theirs and ours. We had some close shots but they were cleared off the line, then the ball rolled out to Luke Bloomfield who took a chance and kicked the ball into the frenzy of people. It hit their player before ending up in the back of the net. Both teams had a few chances after this but there were no more goals, thanks to good goalkeeping by both keepers. The final whistle blew and we had won 4-0.
Final score: Bergholt Heath 4 – 0 Marks Tey
Goals: A Marley x 2, O.G, A Sabini
Man of the Match: Harry Dixon
Team: J Bowden; J Holden, H Dixon, J Adams (G Sabini), L Bloomfield (A Sabini), A Sabini (M James), A Marley (J Adams)

Uner-10 Match report (by Victoria):
Away to Little Oakley Blues in round One of the League Cup.
We travelled to Little Oakley in increasingly thick fog and couldn’t even see the pitch from the car park!
The game started well for us and we had a flurry of early corners although we never really looked like scoring from them. Mid way through the half some good play between the Sabini brothers resulted in Antonio setting Gianni clear on goal and he rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into the net with his left foot. We had some further chances but failed to put them away, whilst at the other end our defending was not as good as normal and there was some panicky clearances and three good saves by James in goal. A few minutes before half time the referee awarded a free kick to Little Oakley just outside the box. The ball was hit hard and found its way through a crowd of players and into the net for their equaliser.
The second half continued in the same way and the later parts of the first half with the boys looking out of sorts compared to normal. James made another couple of good saves before a quick break from Little Oakley saw a shot hit the post before another player knocked in the rebound. The boys found the Little Oakley keeper was as good as James and just couldn’t find a way past him, whilst at the other end our defence was looking increasingly exposed as we pushed for an equaliser - with James keeping us in the game.
The Final whistle came and the boys came off the pitch very dejected having not been at their best today against a very determined Little Oakley team. Both goalkeepers won their teams ‘Man of the Match’ awards which tells the story of an end-to-end game.
Final result: Little Oakley Blues 2 – 1 Bergholt Heath
Man of the Match: James Holden
Team: J Holden; M James, J Bowden, J Hirst (L Bloomfield), H Dixon (A Marley), A Sabini, G Sabini
Next match Sunday 19th October at home to Marks Tey on the Poors Field, kick off 10am

First Responders
West Bergholt First Responders would like to express their thanks to all who showed an interest when they recently stationed themselves outside the Co-op.
The First Responders provide a critical service to the community and are in great need of new members to fill the rota, so if you took a leaflet they are urging you to call them to find out more.
Please remember that you can give us as much or as little of your time as you can afford and you can respond as a pair so why not bring your ‘other half' along to one of their meetings to meet them and find out how easy it is?

Under 10 Match Report (by Victoria)
Well, the weather wasn’t exactly perfect today. What I am saying is that it was absolutely awful. There wasn’t a dry period in the match and the ground was squelching with mud. This didn’t hinder the boy’s enthusiasm though and they got to the ground full of spirit as always.
We scored after about eight minutes, after three attempts - all by different players - Aaron eventually finished a chance and the ball was in the back of the net. This was followed by a flurry of shots by the opposition, but our defenders and goalie managed to keep the score at 1-0. Matthew (our goalie) made a spectacular save, tipping the ball over the top of the bar from a free kick. The score remained the same at half time.
Three changes were made at the start of the second half with Jamie, James and Gianni coming on for Luke, Harry and Jake (Luke and Jake both came back on later in the half). After holding our lead comfortably, we conceded our first goal of the season after a wicked deflection wrong- footed Matthew in goal. We soon got back on top, when Antonio made a sprint down the pitch, held off the defender and shot from just inside the box to restore our lead. Both teams were playing well in the conditions and then in the last minute an unlucky mistake by a Sudbury player meant that they scored an own goal and we were 3-1 up. The game ended like this, and we were finally able to get out of the horrid rain, and into the dryness of the car.
Final result: Sudbury AFC 1 – 3 Bergholt Heath U10
Man of the match: Antonio Sabini
Team: M James; H Dixon (J Holden), J Hirst (L Bloomfield), J Adams (G Sabini), A Sabini, L Bloomfield (J Bowden), A Marley (J Adams)
